Landforms Project

To test my students on landforms, I gave them each a paper plate, salt dough, paint, toothpicks, paper, and tape. I then asked them to create and label 10 landforms with the supplies given to them.

Arizona's Centennial

We celebrated Arizona's 100th Birthday on February 14th. We had a huge celebration at our school on Valentines Day. Arizona is known as the Valentine State. At the celebration each class was asked to have an art display, so I decided to have my class create a quilt together. Each student designed their own fabric square with an Arizona theme. Then, I taught each student how to sew their piece to another, until our quilt was complete.

Poetry Unit

We started a poetry unit yesterday. We made a Poetry Map, showing what the students already knew about poetry. Any time a student finds a poem or books that have any type of poetry they add it to our poetry map. After creating our Poetry Map we created an acrostic poem about the New Year.

Today we read a few poems and talked about rhyme and patterns. Then, we created a "Partner Poem" as a class.
